Beth McMillan
Resident
Bedford Walk Ambassador
“My husband and I signed an application to move to The Village of Bedford Walk, but he passed away unexpectedly. After living with my daughter for a few months, I decided I would be happier moving in as planned. Recently, for my 70th birthday, I had a group of girlfriends help me celebrate. George, one of the residents, brought us a cake!”

A Little More About Beth McMillan
Feels Like Home
Chapter 1: Feels Like Home
When you walk through the doors at The Village of Bedford Walk it feels like home. And that’s the best thing I can say. It’s kind of like the TV show Cheers, when you walk in everybody knows your name. Everybody says hello.
Chapter 2: Daily Acts of Kindness
The staff is just wonderful. I can’t say enough good things about them. They go out of their way daily to be kind and thoughtful and thinking ahead of what we might need and what to do and they ask for input. So it feels good. It’s a good feeling.
Chapter 3: Safe and Comfortable
I feel like it’s a very safe place and a very comfortable place to take Sophie out at night or to walk. It’s a good feeling.
Chapter 4: Finding Strength and Balance
The personal trainer is here at the fitness center and she does come in weekly at no cost. Exercise has changed a bit since I was you know 30 years old and the focus is more on agility and flexibility and core strength. Just helping with balance that kind of thing that you notice as you get older that is not quite as good as it used to be.
Bonus: Celebrate Life
This is a place where I feel that I have come to live my life to celebrate life, enjoy life. It’s very much an independent living community that brings out the very best that that life has to offer.
Bonus: It’s a Wonderful Life
During one of our happy hours we were sitting and talking and someone talked about the correlation between The Village of Bedford Walk and the movie “It’s A Wonderful Life.” And the fact that it took place at Bedford Falls and the Bailey savings and loan, and we live on Bailey drive, and the fact that it is a wonderful life, it’s a wonderful life because we make it wonderful.
Bonus: It’s the People
I think as I get older I become less and less in need of stuff of things. When you’re young and you travel and you go places you want to have pictures or some kind of memorabilia for where you’ve been. And that’s great. You know and those memories are wonderful but it’s the people that makes the difference. It’s the people that you come in contact with on a daily basis that are important.
One community, endless possibilities
You’ll be amazed to discover everything that is included with your stay at The Village of Bedford Walk.
