The Village of Bedford Walk Celebrates its One Year Anniversary
Surrounded by friends, family and the Missouri river basin, residents and staff alike joined together at the Station House to celebrate the one-year anniversary of the opening of The Village of Bedford Walk. Hits from almost every decade set the mood, while a slideshow presented memories that dated back to the conception of the community. There was no shortage of food, with Room 38 Restaurant & Lounge serving guests ribs, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes, salads and a multitude of beverages. Between the easy, cooling breeze and the beautiful, clear evening, it truly was a night to remember.
Concierge, Lisa Coday, serenaded guests with a few different songs, including one dedicated to the residents entitled, “To Make You Feel My Love” by Bob Dylan. It was no surprise that Coday was passionately encouraged for an encore, and like a true performer, she gave the audience what they wanted.
Following the applause left by Coday, Executive Vice President Monica Swoboda came up to the stage and shared her appreciation for one remarkable year. She reminisced on the opening of The Village of Bedford Walk, the crazy amount of work and dedication shown by the staff and the overall pride the company has in this property, as it is the first in a new venture for JES Holdings.
The evening concluded with the serving of a celebratory two-tiered cake, with some helpful grandchildren volunteering to pass out slices. As residents made their way toward the bus to head back home, they praised the staff with gratitude, for “the best party in ages,” as resident Dr. Finkelstein put it.
It is hard to believe that it has already been a year since the community’s opening, but the staff and residents excitedly wait to see what this next year has to offer.
