“My wife passed away about two and half years ago and without her life was not the same. So I came to The Village of Bedford Walk and moved into an apartment on the third floor. My life changed! I am part of a community.”
After Dr. Garth Russell’s illustrious medical career took him all over the world, he settled back in Columbia, Missouri, where he attended school and co-founded Columbia Orthopaedic Group. Dr. Russell was looking to downsize and lessen the responsibility of home ownership when he came across The Village of Bedford Walk. He has discovered a new kind of home at the luxury senior living community, where he often states that he has found a family just footsteps away from the front door of his third-floor apartment.
Happy Hour & Social Events
I moved out mainly the nice, the few antiques that my wife had collected because I wanted to move as much of her with me that I could. And then we moved it out here and so help me in 24 hours it was home but the main thing was the family was here.
Chapter 2: How I Found The Village of Bedford Walk
My wife passed way about two and half years ago and without her life wasn’t the same. So I came out here, moved in, I selected a little apartment upstairs on the third floor and so my life changed. I came out and became part of a community. This is not a place it’s a community.
Chapter 3: Celebrating Life
Got to the point where I would go to work in morning but I couldn’t wait to get home in the afternoon because they had scheduled I wouldn’t say a cocktail party but you get together and you can drink coke or whatever or you could have a glass of wine. And we just would sit there and we would talk and you sort of get into groups of maybe 5 or 6 but were all sort of get together in this big room and we’d tell stories and everybody is just fun.
